Drug bust in Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg man has been charged with drug possession and resisting arrest after a drug bust in Wallaceburg.

Police said the 30-year-old man was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon on an outstanding arrest warrant in connection to a theft. Police said there was an alleged short struggle when he was arrested.

Officers allegedly found what they believe is Fentanyl on the suspect during the search.

The suspect was one of four people arrested by Chatham-Kent police on outstanding warrants on Thursday.

Stolen SUV found in Chatham

A stolen SUV has been found in Chatham and a Windsor woman has been arrested in connection to the case.

Police arrested a 31-year-old woman allegedly sitting in the driver's seat of the vehicle in a parking lot on McNaughton Avenue West after the SUV was reported stolen on Friday at around 2:30 a.m. from a property on King Street West in Chatham.

Officers also found two allegedly stolen credit cards during a search.

The 31-year-old Windsor woman has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, theft of credit card, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, and three counts of failing to comply with her release conditions.

Police search for suspicious vehicle

Officers around Chatham-Kent are keeping an eye out for an alleged suspicious white van after a young girl was spooked by two men in her backyard.

Police said a white van stopped at a home in north Chatham Thursday afternoon and two men went to the backyard to ask a girl about her family's internet and fibre optics. The van's licence plate is BD 69460.

Investigators said the men left when the girl called a family member and took a photo of the van. They added at no time did the men attempt to lure the girl away from her home or make any physical contact with her.

Driving while under suspension

Chatham-Kent police have charged a Sarnia man for driving with his licence suspended.

The suspect's vehicle was stopped in Wallaceburg on Thursday afternoon and officers discovered his licence was allegedly suspended.

The 27-year-old man has been charged with driving while under suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and being a class G1 driver unaccompanied by a qualified driver.

His vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

Suspicious gardener arrested

A Camden Township man got a harsh reminder early Friday morning that you can't be gardening in somebody else's garden without permission.

Police in Chatham-Kent got a call shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday about a suspicious man allegedly digging up flowers in Legion Park on Thames Street in Chatham.

The 42-year-old suspect was given two green thumbs down and was arrested. He has been charged with mischief under $5,000.
