Theft and bail violation

A man has been arrested after police say he left a business without paying for items.

On Friday morning, police were called to the scene of a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham. According to police, the man had left the business without paying for his items. The man was located and police found he was also in breach of his probation.

The 50-year-old man was arrested for theft and possession under $5000, and for failing to comply with his probation order. He was taken to Police Headquarters for booking and later released with a future court date.

Garden tools removed

Police responded to two separate Break and Enter calls on Friday.

On Friday morning, police attended a business on King Street West following reports of a man in a fenced-in patio area, who police say was stealing items.

The 33-year-old man was arrested for Break and Enter. He was taken to Police Headquarters for booking and later released with a future court date.

Also on Friday morning, police attended a business on Thomas Avenue in Wallaceburg. According to police, sometime over the past week, an unknown person broke into a locked garden shed and removed several garden tools with a value of about $100.

Warrants lead to arrest

A man has been arrested on the strength of a warrant following a possible domestic dispute call.

On Friday afternoon, police responded to a home on Park Avenue in Chatham for a potential domestic dispute. An investigation revealed that a man at the home was wanted on two outstanding warrants.

The 31-year-old man was arrested on the strength of the warrants. He was taken to Police Headquarters for booking and held for bail.

Search warrant leads to the discovery of drugs, weapons

On Friday afternoon, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section executed a search warrant at a home in Chatham.

There, police recovered 23.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 25 grams of MDMA, 4–12mg hydromorphone capsules, 11 oxycodone tablets, 83 grams of psilocybin, digital scales, a firearm with a silencer, a conductive energy weapon, and a set of brass knuckles.

A 31-year old Chatham man was arrested and charged with six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, nine counts of failing to comply with his undertaking and five counts of weapon related charges.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
