Police investigating assault in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are asking for tips from the public after a 64-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by three unknown men on Queen Street in Chatham last month.

Police said the man was walking on Gray Street towards Queen Street at around 8:30 p.m. on April 5, 2021 when he was approached by the men and assaulted.

The victim later received treatment at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for his injuries.

Man accused of damaging water meters

A 29-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with mischief after he allegedly damaged some Entegrus water meter boxes behind some businesses on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Police said they were called to the scene Wednesday morning, adding that the damage was estimated at $400.

The accused was arrested, charged, and later released pending a future court date.

Dresden man charged with impaired driving after hitting road sign

A 75-year-old Dresden man is facing an impaired driving charge after he allegedly drove into a road sign on St. George Street in Dresden at around 7 p.m. Wednesday night and then kept driving.

Police said when the managed to track down the vehicle, they believed the man behind the wheel was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He allegedly failed a roadside breath test and was arrested and charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was later released pending a future court date.

Blenheim man accused of threatening woman

A 60-year-old Blenheim man is in more trouble with police after he allegedly left a dozen phone messages for a Dresden woman he wasn't supposed to contact.

Police said the man allegedly called the woman on Tuesday and left eight messages for her -- one of which was threatening in nature -- even though he had already been ordered by the court back in April last year not to communicate with her.

Officers said the man left another four messages for the woman on Wednesday.

The accused was arrested Wednesday night and charged with one count of uttering threats and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with impaired driving after crossing the line

A 31-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been charged with impaired driving after an officer on general patrol spotted a vehicle that was driving slowly and crossing the centre line on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg Wednesday night.

Police said the officer pulled the vehicle over and believed the woman who was behind the wheel had been driving under the influence of alcohol, so she was taken to police headquarters for breath tests.

The woman was later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit before she was released pending a future court date.

Red Honda SUV reported stolen

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for help to track down a red 2016 Honda SUV that was reported stolen from a residence on Summerset Place in Chatham.

Police said it was taken sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, adding that the keys were left in the vehicle at the time it was stolen.

It was last seen with Ontario license plates CEKN 252.
