Serious crash in Blenheim under investigation

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a crash in Blenheim that sent a Blenheim man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police said their investigation so far showed that a man was driving northbound on Chatham Street South in Blenheim at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when his vehicle collided with an oncoming dump truck and then an SUV.

Officers said the crash caused the dump truck to flip over and empty its load of soil into the ditch.

Police said the driver responsible for the collision, a 54-year-old Blenheim man, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Officers said the other two drivers were not physically injured.

Dresden woman charged with drug offences after traffic stop

A Dresden woman has been arrested and charged with drug trafficking after a traffic stop in Wallaceburg turned into a drug bust.

Police said they pulled a vehicle over on Arnold Street in Wallaceburg at around 1:30 a.m. and allegedly found some suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine along with some cash, scales, and debt lists.

A 36-year-old Dresden woman was arrested and charged with two counts of drug trafficking and was later released pending a future court date.

Charge laid after crash on Queens Line

A driver has been charged with careless driving in connection with a two-vehicle crash on Queens Line near Dillon Road.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, adding that no injuries were reported.

The total damage was estimated at $60,000.

Emergency room patient accused of threatening nurse, security guard

A 27-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assault and uttering threats after he allegedly caused a disturbance in the emergency room at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Police said they were called in for help Tuesday night after the man allegedly threatened a nurse and threatened and assaulted a security guard.

The accused was arrested, charged and later released pending a future court date.

Two people charged after disturbance in Chatham

A man and a woman who were supposed to stay away from each other are both facing charges after police found them together at a residence in Chatham early Tuesday morning.

Chatham-Kent police found the pair together while officers were investigating a disturbance.

Police said their investigation showed that the woman's boyfriend -- who she had been ordered not to communicate with -- allegedly assaulted her during a verbal argument.

A 40-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 28-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions. She was later released pending a future court date.
