Man located by K-9 unit

A man is facing multiple charges after police got a call about a suspicious vehicle in Chatham.

Early Sunday morning, police were dispatched to Queens Line for the suspicious vehicle report. The vehicle was located abandoned on the side of the road and was reported as being stolen.

The K-9 department was contacted and a man was found hiding in a building in the area.

The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with break and enter with intent, breach of probation, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of break and enter instruments.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent headquarters and held for bail.

Assault in Wallaceburg

Police are looking for a man who allegedly hit someone in the head with a pipe in Wallaceburg.

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance on James Street where two men got into an altercation.

According to police, at one point one of the men retrieved a pipe and struck the other man with it. The suspect fled before officers arrived.

This investigation is ongoing and a warrant is being requested for the suspect.

According to police, the two men are known to each other. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic stop leads to arrest 

Police were able to nab a man who was allegedly going against his bail conditions in Chatham.

It started on Prince Albert Road when police pulled over a vehicle.

The passenger was found to be on a pair of release conditions to not be with the driver of the vehicle.

As a result, the man was taken to police headquarters and charged with two counts of breach of release conditions. He was held for a bail hearing.
