CK library offers variety of April Break activities for kids

Despite the provincial lockdown, the Chatham-Kent Public Library is making sure kids still have plenty to do during the April Break.

The library has organized several activities for the week ahead.

Many of the events will be held virtually. Throughout the week, kid's trivia will be posted on the Chatham-Kent Public Library Facebook page. There will also be a virtual pet show and tell. On Monday at 10 a.m. or Thursday at 1:30 p.m., children are invited to show off their pets. Registration is required and can be done by calling 519-354-2940. Participants will be emailed a link to the program once registered.

Children and parents can also stop into the branches to borrow several different items to help keep busy. This includes story kits with toys, puppets, books and storytelling props, puzzles that range in size, pre-loaded tablets with content for kids that are easy to use, and customized bags of books.

Crafts are also available for pick-up at local branches throughout the week to do at home. Participating branches are also offering Walk-A-Story maps for pick-up.

Due to the provincial lockdown, the library had to postpone its Great Gnome Tome Hunt. A new date is expected to be announced at a later time. There will however be a scavenger hunt using the library's database “PebbleGo.” The scavenger hunt will be posted to Chatham-Kent's Public Library's Facebook page at 8 a.m. Monday.
