UPDATE: No injuries after two fires in Chatham-Kent

A house fire between Blenheim and Ridgetown and a transport truck fire near Tilbury kept Chatham-Kent fire crews on their toes Sunday night.

In the first incident, no injuries were reported after a fire at a home on Base Road between Blenheim and Ridgetown.

Chatham-Kent fire crews from Station 11 (Ridgetown), Station 12 (Harwich North), and Station 18 (Blenheim) were called to the residence at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Officials said the family was able to get out of the home safely and they are also reminding the public to have working smoke alarms on every level of your home and working CO alarms outside all sleeping areas.

The damage was estimated at $500,000 and the cause has been ruled accidental.

The second incident involved a transport truck on fire on top of the overpass at Queens Line and Highway 401 (Exit 63) just after 11:30 p.m.

Fire officials said no injuries were reported after that fire, either.
