Suspect sought in Chatham robbery

Chatham-Kent police are looking for a male suspect accused of robbing the Shell Gas Station on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police said the robbery took place Sunday morning around 2:30 a.m.

A man went into the store to buy $275 worth of cigarettes and lottery tickets. Police said the suspect pulled out a weapon and took off with the items. He reportedly ran west on McNaughton Avenue and across the roadway.

The cashier was not physically injured during the incident.

Police describe the suspect as a white man, approximately 5’8”-5’9”, with an average build and dark coloured eyes and hair. He was last seen wearing a black ball cap, blue pants, a black hoody, black and grey running shoes, and a red face covering.

Member of the Major Crime Unit are investigating the robbery.
