A Wheatley woman who took a chance on a Price is Right themed lotto ticket has won $400,000 after she dropped a chip down the Plinko board.
Julia Reid recently went to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto after she won the "chip prize" on a $5 Instant Plinko ticket.
Reid said she's a "regular lottery player" who often picks a game the retailer suggests. In this case, she opted to buy a Plinko ticket from the Circle K on Seacliff Drive in Leamington.
"I played my ticket in the car when I realized I won a CHIP prize," she said. "I brought it to the store, and that's when I realized I would be coming to Toronto to play the in-person chip drop!"
Reid said her husband cried tears of joy when she told him the good news.
"I'm thrilled that I won. This allows me to pay my daughter's student loan and complete some home renovations with plenty left over for a happy retirement," said Reid.
The instant Plinko ticket is new this year. In an effort to support Ontario businesses, the OLG is returning profits of tickets sold from January 4, 2021 to March 31, 2021 back to retailers. The initiative will benefit 5,300 retailers.
