Search warrant in Chatham turns up fentanyl, methamphetamine

A 52-year-old Chatham man is facing drug-related charges after police searched a Chatham residence on Thursday and found about $6,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Chatham-Kent police said they seized some suspected fentanyl, hydromorphone tablets, and methamphetamine during their search. Officers also found some digital scales, packaging material, and cash.

The man who was arrested in connection with the case was charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of drug possession. He was later released with a future court date.

Teen damages home, kicks family member

A 14-year-old youth has been booked for mischief and assault after a family dispute turned violent in Chatham.

Police said they were called to the residence Thursday afternoon and learned that the teen had caused "significant damage" to the home during a verbal argument.

Officers said as the youth was being arrested, she also kicked a family member.

The teen was charged accordingly and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Power tools reported stolen

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down about $15,000 worth of power tools that were stolen from a shed on 4th Concession Line.

Police said the tools were taken sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

Four arrests on warrants

Chatham-Kent police have caught up with another four people who were wanted for a variety of offences locally.

Police said a 29-year-old Wallaceburg woman who was wanted for being an accessory after the fact and failing to attend court was arrested Thursday morning in Wallaceburg. She was held for a bail hearing, then later released pending a future court date.

A 28-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for property-related offences and failing to attend court was also arrested Thursday morning and taken into custody pending a bail hearing. He was later released with a future court date.

A 38-year-old man who was wanted in connection with an assault investigation involving a family member was arrested late Thursday afternoon. He was later released pending a future court date.

And a 30-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident was arrested inside a store washroom in Chatham. Police said they found her in the washroom while they were responding to a call about a suspicious woman. The woman was arrested, charged, and later released with a future court date.
