Woman charged with theft

A 26-year-old Wallaceburg woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole some makeup products in her purse while she was at the Walmart in Wallaceburg and left the store without paying for them.

Chatham-Kent police said the incident was reported Sunday afternoon, adding that the items have an estimated combined value of $56.

While police were investigating, they also learned that the same woman was allegedly responsible for another theft on January 22, 2021.

As a result, she was arrested and charged with two counts of theft and later released with a future court date.

Man breaks mother-in-law's car window

A 25-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with mischief after he allegedly broke the back window of his mother-in-law's car.

Police said they were called to the scene at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, adding that the man allegedly broke the window by throwing a rock at it.

The damage was estimated at $500.

The accused was arrested, charged, and later released from police custody pending a future court date.

Break-in at Schinkels Gourmet Meats

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after someone broke into Schinkels Gourmet Meats on Richmond Street and took off with three boxes of meat.

Police said they responded to the store at around 1 a.m. Monday after an alarm went off and learned that someone had smashed the front door before taking off with three boxes of meat.

Officers said the suspect was spotted on surveillance video wearing a white N95 mask, a grey baseball hat, a black toque, a black jacket, blue jeans, and white running shoes with black laces.

Tools stolen from unlocked garage

Police are appealing to the public for tips as they investigate a theft on Coll Street in Kent Bridge.

Officers said sometime between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, someone entered an unlocked garage on that street and stole several Ryobi tools and a MasterCraft welder.

The total value of the theft is estimated at $2,000.

ATV reported stolen in Dresden

Chatham-Kent police are asking for you to be on the lookout for a red and black 2005 'Brute Force' Kawasaki ATV that was reported stolen from a residence on St. George Street in Dresden.

Officers said it was taken sometime over the past week and was last seen with Ontario license plate 5RX49.

The total value of the theft is estimated at $3,500.

Arrests on warrants

Chatham-Kent police also managed to arrest two people on Sunday who were wanted on outstanding warrants.

Police said they arrested a 20-year-old Chatham woman Sunday afternoon who was wanted for mischief. She was later released with a future court date.

Officers also arrested a 34-year-old man of no fixed address who was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident. He was charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime, assault, and failing to attend court for his fingerprints. He was released pending a future court date.
