Carleton invited to virtual Team Canada camp

Bridget Carleton has been invited to Canada's Senior Women's National Basketball Team training camp.

The 6'1" guard from Chatham is one of 20 players invited to the virtual camp this week.

The team hasn't been together in person in over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but officials say that hasn't stopped the players from connecting virtually with coaches and staff to continue their development and training.

"I'm so excited to get together with our players and staff this week," said Head Coach Lisa Thomaidis. "We have an incredible group of people on this team who have displayed genuine dedication and commitment to our teams' growth and improvement during this time."

Canada is one of 12 teams that qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Women's Basketball Tournament. It's scheduled to take place this summer from July 26 to August 8. The teams will be divided into three groups of four teams. The draw will be announced on Tuesday, February 2.

Canada's Senior Women’s National Team remains ranked fourth in the FIBA world rankings.
