Driver hospitalized after crashing stolen pickup

A stolen vehicle was located after it was involved in a collision in Orford Township.

The pickup truck was stolen from a Tilbury residence sometime between Thursday and Friday.

On Friday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police were called to a single motor vehicle crash on Cochrane Line. When officers arrived, the vehicle's license plate was ran and it was discovered to be the truck that had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

The driver was the only occupant of the truck and was taken to the hospital in critical, but stable condition.

The Traffic Unit was called in to investigate and charges are pending.

Trio of warrant arrests

Over the past 24 hours, Chatham-Kent police were able to nab several people who were wanted on warrants.

On Friday evening, police on general patrol on Mary Street in Chatham located a woman who was wanted for failing to attend court.

The 41-year-old was arrested and taken to police headquarters where she was eventually released with a future court date.

On Friday night, police located a man on Arnold Street in Wallaceburg who was wanted for failing to attend court.

While searching him, police found several pieces of ID that did not belong to the man. As a result, he was also charged with possession of stolen property.

The 31-year-old was taken to police headquarters. He was then transferred over to the Ontario Provincial Police as he also had outstanding warrants with the OPP.

Elsewhere, police located a 27-year-old man on Middle Line in Charring Cross on Friday night who was wanted for failing to attend court.

Police checks also revealed that he was breaching his court-ordered curfew and he was additionally charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release order.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was lodged into cells and held for bail.
