Domestic incident sends woman to hospital

A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault in connection with an alleged incident of domestic violence at a residence in Tilbury.

Chatham-Kent police said they were called to the residence shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday and learned that the man had allegedly assaulted his common-law partner during a verbal argument.

A 41-year-old woman was taken to the hospital via ambulance for medical attention and the man accused of assaulting her was arrested, charged, and released pending a future court date.

Charges laid after crashes, police warn about wildlife

Two drivers are facing charges in connection with two separate crashes in Chatham-Kent on Thursday.

Police said one of the drivers was charged with making an unsafe left turn after a two-vehicle collision on Tweedsmuir Avenue between Dunn Avenue and McGuigan Avenue in Chatham Thursday afternoon. No injuries were reported, but the damage was estimated at $8,000.

In the second case, a 55-year-old Chatham man was charged with unsafely starting from a stopped position after a crash involving a police cruiser on Park Avenue near Prince Street in Chatham just before 6 p.m. Thursday. Officers said there were no injuries and only minor damage was reported.

Police are also warning drivers to keep an eye out for wildlife on the roads -- especially during dusk and dawn hours. Officers were called to two collisions Thursday night involving deer. No injuries were reported in either of those cases.

Two arrests on outstanding warrants

A 38-year-old Chatham woman and a 35-year-old London man who were both wanted by Chatham-Kent police have been arrested.

The woman was wanted for uttering threats, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and failing to attend court. Police arrested her in Chatham and later released her pending a future court date.

The man -- wanted for weapons-related offences and failing to attend court -- was arrested by London Police and turned over to CK police for court purposes. He was also charged and released pending a future court date.
