Trailer reported stolen

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after a utility trailer was reported stolen from a business on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Police said it's believed the trailer was taken sometime either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

The trailer is described as a 1971 homemade single axle trailer, coated with rubberized material and it's valued at approximately $1,000.

Reporting crime online

Chatham-Kent police are raising awareness of the online citizen police reporting system, which can be used to report several types of local crimes.

Police said the following types of reports can be submitted online:

- Theft from Vehicle (Under $5,000)

- Theft (Under $5,000)

- Lost Property

- Mischief or Damage Caused to a Vehicle

- Mischief or Damage Caused to Property

- Lost/Stolen License Plate

- Supplementary or Additional Information Report

Officers are asking you to confirm several details about the crime before you file an online report, though.

You need to ensure the incident occurred within Chatham-Kent, you must have a valid email address to use the system, there must not be any known suspects, there must not be any evidence at the scene, you cannot file a report on behalf of someone else, and you need to turn off pop-up blocking software before filing a report.

Police are reminding the public that they can still always contact the Chatham-Kent Police Service at (519) 436-6600 ext. 0 or attend Police Headquarters or a local Police Service Centre to submit a report.
