Police investigating thefts and break-ins

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they look into four separate break-ins and thefts that all took place over the past month.

Police said they were called to investigate a break-in on Brock Street in Shrewsbury on Thursday. Officers learned that the residence, a utility trailer, and a detached garage on the property were all broken into sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. A television, some fishing tackle and a heater were all reported stolen.

Anyone with information on that incident is asked to contact Constable Dan Graham at dangr@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #84984.

In a separate incident, police received a report that three storage units had been broken into at a business on Community Road in Dresden. Nothing was reported stolen by any of the owners and police are still trying to track down some leads on who may have committed the break-ins.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Kristen Charron at kristenc@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #84984.

Chatham-Kent police are also investigating an incident where someone broke into a compound on Richmond Street sometime on December 30. Officers said two storage units there were broken into and at this time, two bicycles have been reported stolen. Police are still reviewing video surveillance and they are asking anyone with information to contact Constable Dave Miller at davidm@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #84984.

A fourth investigation is also underway as police try to track down some information on a break-in at a barn on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg that took place sometime within the last month. Police said unknown suspects forced their way into the barn and removed and damaged the ignition to a Honda four-wheeler while they were trying to steal it -- but they were unsuccessful.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Max Bossence at maxb@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #84984.

Anonymous callers with any information on any of these crimes may also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
