CK police briefs - Thursday, December 24, 2020

Break and Enters

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a rash of break and enters.

Police said someone entered a garage on Erieau Road in Blenheim sometime overnight on Wednesday and took a utility trailer containing a large quantity of power tools. The value of the stolen property is $15,000. The investigation is ongoing and there are currently no suspects.

Officers also responded to a break and enter at a building on Lindsay Road in Dresden that happened sometime between December 21 and 23 when someone entered the building and took $1,100 in electronics. The investigation is ongoing and there are currently no suspects.

Another break and enter at a business on Old Glass Road in Wallaceburg overnight on Wednesday is also being investigated. Police said somebody cut the locks to three storage units and it is currently unknown if anything was taken. The investigation is ongoing and there are currently no suspects.

Finally, police is looking for whoever broke into a garage at a home on McCreary Line in Wallaceburg on Wednesday and took $500 in power tools. The investigation continues and there are currently no suspects.

Warrants

Two people wanted by police have been taken off the street in Chatham-Kent.

An officer on general patrol in Chatham Wednesday afternoon saw a man near Sandys Street who was known to be wanted on several outstanding warrants and arrested the 31-year-old male. Then, a 55-year-old man who was wanted for failing to comply with his probation orders was arrested in the area of Williams Street a short time later. They were both transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for booking and later released with a future court date.

Crash Leads to Impaired Charges

A multi-vehicle crash in the area of London CT. in Chatham Wednesday night has led to drunk driving charges against a 52-year-old woman. Police said one of the vehicles involved attempted to flee the scene and was found a short distance away. Officers spoke to the driver and believed she was driving while impaired by alcohol. The woman was arrested and taken to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for tests.
