Bothwell bank spray-painted

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they investigate an incident of mischief at a bank in Bothwell.

Police said sometime over the past weekend, someone spray-painted the side of the Bank of Montreal on Main Street North.

Domestic disturbance leads to arrest, charges

A 42-year-old Blenheim man is facing assault and mischief charges after a violent domestic incident in Raleigh Township.

Police said they were called to the residence Monday night, adding that their investigation showed that a man there had assaulted his ex-common law spouse and his father while also damaging a cell phone and kicking open a locked door.

Officers said the father was taken to the hospital for some medical attention after the incident.

The man who was arrested was charged with two counts of assault along with one count each of mischief and failing to comply with his release conditions. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Two men arrested for breaching release conditions

A 25-year-old Chatham man and a 43-year-old Chatham man are both in more trouble with the law after they allegedly disobeyed their release conditions over the past couple of days.

Chatham-Kent police said they received a tip Sunday afternoon that the 25-year-old man was breaching his house arrest condition over the weekend, so when officers caught up with him Monday afternoon, they arrested him and charged him accordingly.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing and is now set to remain in custody until December 3, 2020.

In the second case, an officer on general patrol reportedly saw a man walking on St. George Street in Chatham Monday night who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions and attempted to arrest him, but he was able to evade officers for a while.

Police said they picked him up on Park Avenue East and took him into custody.

He was charged with five counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and was later released pending a future court date.

Three drivers charged following crashes

A 39-year-old Chatham woman has been charged in connection with a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on King Street West near Lacroix Street in Chatham.

Police said she was charged with failing to stop at a red light.

Minor injuries were reported and the total damage was estimated at $30,000.

A 34-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been charged with following too closely in connection with a two-vehicle collision on Dufferin Avenue near Cenotaph Park in Wallaceburg.

Police said the crash took place Monday afternoon, adding that no one was injured and the damage was estimated at $2,000.

A 36-year-old Chatham man has been charged with making an unsafe turn in connection with a two-vehicle collision that took place Monday afternoon on Bear Line Road near Pain Court Line.

Police said no one was injured and the damage was estimated at $7,000.
