Man charged with possession of child pornography

A 51-year-old Blenheim man has been arrested and charged after police allegedly found some child pornography on his cell phone.

Chatham-Kent police said they received a tip about that Sunday morning and through their investigation, officers were able to confirm the man had some intimate images of a young child in his possession.

The accused was arrested Sunday night and charged with possession of child pornography.

Chatham-Kent police are looking for the public’s help to identify the man pictured below in connection with the theft of some gas from the Mobil Gas Bar on St. Clair Street in Chatham Friday morning.

Chatham man accused of hitting his brother with a stick

A 38-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault with a weapon and drug possession after police were called to a family dispute over the weekend.

Police said they were called to a residence in Chatham Sunday morning and learned that a local man allegedly assaulted his brother with a wooden stick, resulting in the alleged victim requiring medical attention.

The accused was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and drug possession. He was later released with a future court date.

Five arrests on warrants

Chatham-Kent police had a productive Sunday, as they were able to track down and arrest five people who were wanted on outstanding warrants.

In the first case, a 50-year-old man of no fixed address who was wanted for breaching his probation order was arrested in Chatham after police received a tip about a suspicious person near a business on St. Clair Street Sunday morning.

He was later released with a future court date.

In the second case, police arrested a 29-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions. Police said they stopped him for a Highway Traffic Act violation in Chatham prior to his arrest Sunday night.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

In the third case, police arrested a 45-year-old Tilbury man who was wanted in connection with an incident in Tilbury where he allegedly sold a vehicle to a local salvage yard that was brought to him to repair and store.

The accused was arrested Sunday night and charged with theft by person required to account and was later released with a future court date.

In the fourth case, a 27-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions turned himself in at CK police headquarters Sunday night.

He was later released pending a future court date.

In the fifth and final case, a 38-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for allegedly stealing a sports card from a store on King Street East in Chatham earlier this month was arrested Sunday night after he was pulled over for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Police said the accused was charged with theft and later released pending a future court date.

Allegedly intoxicated woman arrested in Wallaceburg

A 21-year-old Walpole Island woman is spending some time sobering up at Chatham-Kent police headquarters after police picked her up in Wallaceburg Sunday night.

Police said they took the woman into custody after responding to a report of a suspicious woman on Wall Street. Officers said when they found her, the woman was intoxicated and unable to care for herself.

She was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and was set to be released when sober up.

Truck reported stolen in Thamesville

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a grey 2003 GMC Sierra pick-up truck that was reported stolen from a parking lot on London Road near Victoria Road in Thamesville.

Police said the truck was reportedly taken sometime between 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday and was last seen Ontario license plates AT68 406.
