Positive case of COVID-19 confirmed at UCC

A Chatham high school is once again reporting that a member of the school community has tested positive for COVID-19.

Ursuline College Chatham (UCC) confirmed on its website that a case of the virus has been identified on Monday.

The infected individual has been dismissed from the school and is self-isolating.

Contract tracing has also been completed by Chatham-Kent Public Health. The health unit said it has determined that the case does not pose a risk to the school and additional students/staff will not be dismissed.

"As requested prior to the start of the school year, please continue to monitor your child for symptoms of COVID-19," the health unit said in a letter to parents. "If your child is ill, please keep them at home and call your health care provider or local health unit."

The health unit also reported a case of the virus at UCC in late October.

As of Monday evening, there are currently 28 active cases of COVID-19 within Chatham-Kent. There has been a total of 480 cases of the virus confirmed in the municipality since the pandemic started and it has led to three deaths.
