Going for a dip in Wallaceburg is just days away

Some good news if you feel like going for a swim in Wallaceburg.

On Monday afternoon, the municipality announced the Wallaceburg Sydenham District Pool will re-open on November 23. In early October, Chatham-Kent Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby rescinded a public health order banning municipal pools to open because of the health risks involved with the global COVID-19 pandemic.

"As the pandemic has changed our world, aquatics programming will be a modified schedule with reduced capacity, in accordance with Public Health and Lifesaving Society recommendations," said Manager of Recreation and Community Engagement Services Ann Robinson.

Robinson said programming at the Wallaceburg Sydenham District Pool will begin with lane swims, adult and senior swims, parent and tot and family swims. Other programming will follow once safety processes and procedures have been fully tested and evaluated, added Robinson. The municipality is also reminding the public the Program Registration system has changed and old user accounts are no longer valid.

Customers who wish to attend program times are asked to set up a new user account, then pre-register by going online at www.chatham-kent.ca/recreation or phoning 519-360-1998 to set up a new user account. Pre-registering for all programs must also be done seven days before the desired program. All programs will be 45 minutes in length and swimmers will only be charged $2 per person for every program in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.
