The Christmas spirit will be on display at the Chatham Armoury this December.
Last year, the Armoury hosted the first-ever Christmas Market and light projection show, but due to COVID-19 restrictions this time around, they had to make some changes to make it safe.
"Instead of just having people come to watch, we are doing a drive-in experience where they register their vehicle online," said Lisa Lester, owner and manager of Four Diamond Events. "We can fit 68 cars for each showing."
Online registration opens on Monday, November 16th at https://armouryfourdiamondevents.com/.
Lester said there will be three shows each night, at 5:30 p.m. 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from Monday, December 14 through Sunday, December 20.
"We have a live show, which is going to be approximately 35 to 40 minutes," said Lester. "People will come, park their car, and watch the show, and then as they exit Santa will be saying hello to all the little ones in their cars from a safe distance."
Lester added that they're looking to hire some local performers for the show and artists to help decorate the fencing that will be going up in the park.
The event is free, but they are asking for donations.
"We do ask that people make a donation online when they register their vehicle," said Lester. "We're supporting a new housing initiative for the homeless and it's through Neighbour Link."
In 2019, the group behind the show donated over $10,000 to four different local charities.
They are also working on an outdoor Christmas market in downtown Chatham, details on that are still being finalized.
