Family dispute investigation leads to arrest

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with mischief after he allegedly damaged some property at a home in Morpeth during a family dispute.

Chatham-Kent police made the arrest after they were called to investigate Thursday morning.

The accused was later released with a future court date.

Woman accused of driving high

A 25-year-old woman from Corunna is charged with impaired driving after police allegedly found an intoxicated woman behind the wheel of a vehicle in Chatham.

Police said they found the woman while they were responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle on St. George Street at around 7 p.m. Thursday.

Officers said when they approached her, she appeared to be disoriented while sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle, which was still running and in drive.

Police were able to get into the vehicle through an open window and put the vehicle in park.

Through their investigation, officers believed the woman was under the influence of a drug, so she was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Once she was medically cleared, she was arrested and taken back to police headquarters for an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert.

After that evaluation, the woman was charged with impaired driving and later released with a future court date.

Wanted woman arrested in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested a 24-year-old Walpole Island woman shortly after 3 a.m. Friday who was wanted for break and enter and failing to attend court.

Police said the woman was also out past her curfew, so she was further charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.

She was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen truck turns up in Thamesville

Police are appealing to the public for tips after they found a stolen red 2013 Dodge Ram truck on Jane Road in Thamesville.

Officers said they found the truck, which was reported stolen from Middlesex County, shortly after 5 a.m. Friday. It was unoccupied at the time and police had it towed from the scene.

Power tools stolen from trailer in Dover Township

Chatham-Kent police are also investigating after someone broke into a construction trailer that was parked on Creek Line and took off with some power tools.

Police said the break-in took place sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
