A Chatham-Kent police officer accused of sexual assault is expected to enter a plea next month, almost two years after he was initially suspended from duty.
Constable Andrew Jaconelli is charged with two counts of sexual assault and assault with a weapon in connection with off-duty incidents that date back to November of 2017 and August of 2018. Jaconelli will either plead guilty on November 23 and be sentenced the same day, or plead not guilty and go through a trial.
Jaconelli has been suspended with pay since December 2018. His plea has been put off multiple times over the past 10 months.
Chatham-Kent police have also charged Jaconelli with two counts of discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act and the Professional Standards Branch has conducted more internal investigations into the matter.
The names of the victims are being protected by a publication ban.
