Resident feedback sought for 2021 budget

Even though Chatham-Kent budget deliberations are a few months away, the municipality is already starting to get some early feedback from local residents.

The Chatham-Kent 2021 online budget survey is officially live. Residents can use the survey as a way to express their thoughts on what services they deem important and whether spending should be increased or decreased.

Budget Chair and Councillor Brock McGregor said the online survey gives residents the opportunity to provide input at their convenience and help councillors better understand the needs of the community going into budget deliberations.

“Using the survey means someone doesn’t have to commit to being online at a particular time to take part in the conversation,” he said.  “We want to provide everyone with a chance for their voice to be heard.”

The online survey will be open until November 3 and residents can take part by clicking here.

Citizens are also encouraged to bring budget concerns to their councillors at any time through email or by phone.

This year's budget process will be all done virtually due to the pandemic. Council will host its budget committee opening night meeting on January 13 with community consultation meetings held online the following week. Budget deliberations will begin on January 27.
