Arrest leads to weapons charge

An 18-year-old is facing multiple charges after getting arrested in Chatham.

On Saturday afternoon, officers located the man on Grand Avenue, who was believed to be on house arrest.

As police were investigating, the suspect took off running. A short foot pursuit took place and the man was arrested.

While searching the man, police located pepper spray.

The Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with his release order, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon contrary to his weapons prohibition order.

He was released pending a future court date.

Arrest after liquor store disturbance

A 25-year-old will have to answer to charges after causing a disturbance in Chatham.

Officers were called to the LCBO on Wellington Street Saturday afternoon after the man allegedly threatened to harm several employees.

The Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats.

He was released with a future court date.

Pair of warrant arrests 

A call about a dumpster diver in Chatham led to a 35-year-old man getting arrested.

The call came in to police on Saturday morning about someone going through a dumpster behind a business on Riverview Drive.

Officers located the man and police checks revealed that he was currently wanted by police for failing to comply with a release order.

The Chatham man was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Elsewhere, police on general patrol on Saturday evening located a man who was wanted for several domestic offences.

The 51-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a future court date.
