Flooding on Erie Shore Drive prompts warning

A flood watch issued for Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent has been upgraded to a flood warning.

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) said Erie Shore Drive has flooded and all non-essential traffic should avoid the area to ensure municipal staff and/ or emergency services can access the area when required.

"There is water on many properties and around some of the homes," said Jason Wintermute, manager of watershed and information services for the LTVCA. "Water up to 15 cm in depth has been reported over the road in some locations making travel on the road hazardous."

This flood warning will be in effect until Thursday. The flood watch issued for other areas of the Lake Erie shoreline on Tuesday remains in effect until Friday.
