Chatham homeowner makes arrest 

A homeowner decided to take things into their own hands after catching someone on their property.

Around 9 p.m. Friday, the homeowner caught someone in the backyard of his Park Street home. The suspect was allegedly attempting to steal marijuana plants.

The homeowner detained the suspect and waited for the police to arrive. Upon arrival, the man was placed under arrest and charged with theft and possession under $5,000.

The 42-year-old Chatham man was eventually released with a future court date.

Two break and enters in Chatham 

Police are investigating after a pair of break and enters in Chatham.

Around 9 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a storage facility on  Grand Avenue East. 

It was reported that approximately $3,300 in items were stolen.

Then around 3 p.m., police responded to an address on the southside of Chatham in regards to a break and enter.

Unknown suspects gained entry into a locked greenhouse and removed a marijuana plant.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call police or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Wallaceburg fire

Damage is pegged around $500 after a fire in Wallaceburg.

Crews responded around 2 a.m. to reports that a camping trailer located at the back of a Murray Street residence had caught fire.

The cause was determined to be faulty wiring.

Motorcycle stolen in Dresden

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, police responded to an address on Wellington Street in Dresden in regards to a break and enter.

Sometime overnight, unknown suspects stole a lime green Kawasaki ZX10R Ninja motorcycle. There was no license plate on it at the time.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call police or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Three outstanding warrant arrest 

Police were able to nab three people over the last 24 hours who were wanted on outstanding warrants.

On Friday, officers located a man who was wanted on outstanding domestic-related charges. The 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Also on Friday, a man who was wanted on a warrant turned himself in at the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters.  The 26-year-old was arrested on the warrant for uttering threats and later released with a future court date in October.

Then early Saturday morning, officers located a 25-year-old Chatham man on St. Clair Street that was wanted on outstanding domestic-related charges.

The man was arrested, transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Arrest for failing to comply

On Friday,  just before 5 p.m., a 29-year-old man from Chatham was located by police in his vehicle on Park Avenue East.

He was wanted for failing to comply with his release order. The man was arrested by police, transported to the station and later released with a future court date.
