Big Brothers Big Sister 50/50 raffle goes province-wide

Another big fundraiser is underway.

Tickets for the Bigger Together 50/50 Raffle in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters went on sale on September 16.

"Thirty-four agencies across Ontario decided to collaborate together to try to offer the biggest 50/50 that any of out agencies have ever seen," said Big Brothers Big Sisters Chatham-Kent caseworker Holly Larivee. "So this maximizes fundraising potential, which is definitely awesome with the times that we've found ourselves in."

Larivee explains how the money raised will be divided up.

"Despite the fact that we are all collectively going in together, we are actually going to use links to track where the purchases came from to make sure that everything that's raised local, stays local."

The local website to purchase tickets is www.big5050raffle.ca.

"It's going to be drawn on October 16th, so we are hoping for a huge pot at the end," said Larivee. "I got an update on Friday (Sept. 18) letting us know that Chatham-Kent is currently the leader in sales, which I thought was pretty cool."

Larivee added the money that's raised will go to their programs.

"We currently have all our programs still running, whether it is our community-based Big Brothers Big Sister program, they're currently still getting together using safety protocols and following the advice of the Medical Officer of Health. And then we have virtual Go Girl and Game On programs still running."
