Dangerous driving charge after vehicle hits two bikes, ATV

A 21-year-old man who wasn't supposed to be driving has been arrested after he was allegedly spotted crashing a vehicle into a pair of bicycles and an ATV in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police said shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Officers said through their investigation, they learned that a driver in the area of Reaume Avenue took a vehicle up over a parking lot curb and onto the yard of two people who were standing in front of their unit.

Police said the witnesses were able to move out of the way, but the vehicle still ended up hitting the bicycles and the ATV before taking off.

Officers said the witnesses were able to identify the driver for police, who found him at a convenience store in Wallaceburg a couple of hours later.

He was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of breaching his probation because he's currently bound by conditions not to operate a vehicle.

The accused was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Officers said when the woman was being arrested, police also found some suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine on her along with a cell phone even though she had been previously ordered not to carry one.

The accused was charged with three counts of failing to comply with her release conditions and two counts of drug possession.
