Copper wire taken from rooftop HVAC units

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after someone stripped copper wiring and metal from four rooftop heating / air conditioning units at TR Plastics on London Road in Thamesville.

Police said the theft took place sometime over the summer, adding that the damage caused by the incident is estimated at $60,000.

Air conditioners, copper pipes stolen from construction site

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after someone raided a residential building on Michener Road in Chatham that is under construction.

Police said the break-in took place sometime between Friday, September 11 and Wednesday, September 16.

Several kitchen cabinets were reported stolen from a locked storage room that is attached to the building -- the suspects also took off with five air conditioning units from a storage container on the property and several 4' copper pipes for the units.

The total value of the theft is estimated at $10,000 while the cost to replace the copper piping and to repair the damaged doors is approximately $5,000.

Electronics stolen from storage unit in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break-in at a storage unit on Arnold Street in Wallaceburg.

Officers said it took place sometime between 5 p.m. Monday and 1 p.m. Wednesday, adding that a variety of items were taken with a combined value of $5,000.

Charge laid after crash in Blenheim

A 59-year-old Erieau woman has been charged in connection with a two-vehicle crash in Blenheim that caused an estimated $3,500 in damage.

Police said they were called to the scene Wednesday afternoon on Talbot Street West between George Street and Marlborough Street.

No injuries were reported.

Crash caused by medical event

A 32-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after she crashed her vehicle into a tree just outside of Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman was driving on Pioneer Line near Prince Albert Road when suffered a medical event, which caused her vehicle to go off the road and hit a tree.

The damage from the crash caused by the crash was estimated at $20,000.

Small dirt bike reported stolen

Chatham-Kent police are asking for tips from the public after someone stole a blue BAJA dirt bike from a parking lot on Chittim Road in Blenheim.

Police said the bike has a 90cc frame and a 50cc motor and has an estimated value of $200.

Glass of water thrown during argument

A 35-year-old man is facing a number of domestic violence-related charges after he allegedly assaulted his wife in Chatham.

Police say the man is accused of assaulting his wife, throwing a glass of water at her, and damaging some property in their home after a verbal argument took a violent turn on Wednesday.

Officers said they also learned this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with forcible confinement, mischief, two counts of assault with a weapon, and five counts of assault. He was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Failing to comply with release conditions

A 52-year-old Chatham man has been arrested after he allegedly showed up at a woman's workplace even though he had been ordered to stay away from her.

Police said the man was released from custody in June with several conditions, which ordered him not to communicate with a specific Tilbury woman or to attend her place of employment.

Officers said they arrested him after learning that he had allegedly ignored those orders by trying to speak with the woman after showing up at her workplace in Chatham.

The accused was charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and was later released with a future court date.
