New emergency medicine resident joins CKHA

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is welcoming a new emergency medicine resident who is originally from southwestern Ontario.

Dr. Matthew Renaud is from Harrow and earned his Bachelor of Medical Sciences from Western University in 2014. He then earned a Doctor of Medicine in 2018 and completed his Family Medicine Residency in 2020 at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University.

Renaud is now getting hands-on training in Emergency Medicine through Western University's Canadian College of Family Physicians - Emergency Medicine Program.

He started his one-year residency at the CKHA earlier this summer.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know and giving back to the great people of Chatham-Kent. I'm also excited to work alongside, and learn from, the great team at CKHA and seeing everything the community has to offer," said Renaud in a statement.

Family and Emergency Medicine Physician Dr. Shawn Segeren is noted as being "instrumental" in bringing the Canadian College of Family Physicians - Emergency Medicine Program to the CKHA.

"This is an exciting new venture for us to provide specialized high acuity training for family medicine graduates who wish to pursue this path," said Chief of Staff Dr. Pervez Faruqi. "Dr. Renaud is a welcome addition to our Emergency Department."
