Chatham man arrested in child pornography investigation

A Chatham man is facing several charges after a multi-jurisdiction child pornography investigation.

The Chatham-Kent Police Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit and Peel Regional Police executed a search warrant in Chatham on Friday in relation to the investigation, which involved the Peel Regional Police ICE Unit and the and Peterborough Police ICE Unit.

According to Chatham-Kent police, between February and August 2020, the man was allegedly communicating online for a sexual purpose with a female in the Peterborough area, that he believed to be under the age of 16. He was also allegedly in communication with a female in the Peel Region between July and September 2020 that he believed to be under the age of 16.

The 31-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of luring a child under 16 to commit invitation to sexual touching, attempting to make child pornography, and four counts of making sexually explicit material available to person under 16.

He was released on conditions and given a future court date of September 29, 2020. The man's name was not released by police.
