Cascades Casino reopens its eatery in Chatham

Cascades Casino in Chatham is reopening its restaurant for indoor dining and takeout.

But the gaming side of the business remains closed.

Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Rob Mitchell said Match restaurant will reopen on Thursday but the gaming floor will remain closed for now because of "capacity issues with a 50 person cap."

"Hopefully the government will be more flexible on capacity…need more than 50," Mitchell said.

Gateway Casinos said the patio will also be open for business with expanded seating and rigorous health and safety procedures.

“We are very excited to be able to re-open our Match restaurants and welcome back some of our team. The health and well-being of our employees and guests is our top priority,” said Brent Dallimore, Director, Food and Beverage, Gateway Casinos, Eastern Canada. “We want to thank everyone for their support and patience during these challenging times as we work diligently to safely return to operations and still provide a fine dining experience.”

Gateway added maintaining a clean environment is a year-round priority and it is regular practice to clean all hard surfaces, such as door handles and tables. Gateway also said Match is being "hyper-vigilant" in cleaning protocols throughout all properties to prevent the spread of transmittable illnesses, including COVID-19.

"While things may look a bit different, your Match experience will be everything you remember," said casino officials.

Casino officials said Match has implemented a new virtual queue system that will allow guests to text to join the wait list and safely wait in their vehicles until their table is ready.

“This system will allow our staff to properly prepare the dining room for each guest, and ensure there is no congestion at the entrance as guests wait to be seated,” said Dallimore. "This system will also allow guests to receive the menu digitally on their own personal device."

Gateway said there will be daily Happy Hour specials between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. featuring a changing menu of discounted wine and beer. The restaurant will be open seven days a week with adjusted hours of operation.
