COVID-19 changes coming to transit buses in CK

Seating limits on CK Transit buses are being lifted this week.

Effective on Wednesday, CK Transit said it will remove the seating limit on buses temporarily imposed in March at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Transit officials said ridership has been increasing as Chatham-Kent enters Stage 3 of Ontario’s COVID-19 Reopening Plan. Riders are being strongly urged to wear face coverings on public transit vehicles because physical distancing will not always be possible on buses with the removal of the seating limit.

"It is important for riders to practice physical distancing wherever possible, including at bus stops," said CK Transit management. "Keep two metres between yourself and others and practice good personal hygiene, including frequent handwashing with soap and water or use hand sanitizer."

People experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms are being encouraged to stay home. Officials said enhanced cleaning procedures continue on all Transit vehicles.
