Man jumps into traffic

A man accused of jumping in and out of traffic after allegedly consuming drugs has been arrested.

Police said the man was found Thursday afternoon after a complaint was made about a suspicious person on Queen Street in Chatham.

He was arrested for breach of peace and held in police custody until sober. -------

DNA helps solve break-in investigation

DNA evidence has lead to the arrest of a Chatham man who allegedly broke into a business earlier this year.

Officers seized some evidence for forensic analysis after a break-in was reported at a business on Richmond Street on January 5, 2020.

The Centre of Forensic Sciences matched the DNA evidence to a 35-year-old Chatham man in March.

Chatham-Kent police were able to find the suspect on Grand Avenue West in Chatham on Thursday. He was charged with break and enter and released with a future court date.

Vehicle reported stolen

Officers are trying to find a stolen 2019 Chevrolet Cruz, worth approximately $19,000.

Police said the four-door vehicle was stolen from a residence on Wills Street in Wallaceburg on Thursday, sometime between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

The vehicle is blue and was last seen with Ontario plates CKHD 569.

Wanted woman arrested

A 25-year-old Wallaceburg woman wanted for domestic-related offences has been arrested.

Police said she was found on Thursday morning. She was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats.

She was later released from police custody with a future court date set for August 12.

Woman accused of being intoxicated in public

A 21-year-old Wallaceburg woman spent some time in a holding cell after she was allegedly found intoxicated in public.

Officers arrested the woman Thursday night, in the area of Base Line in Wallaceburg. She was taken into police custody and held until sober.

Breaching orders leads to arrests

A few people involved in separate incidents are facing additional charges for allegedly breaking their probation conditions.

A youth member who allegedly violated his probation order was arrested Thursday evening in Chatham. He was charged with three counts of breach of probation.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old Chatham woman accused of breaking her conditions was arrested after officers received a call about a suspicious person. She was found on King Street East in Chatham on Thursday afternoon. During her arrest, police found a switchblade. She was charged with two counts of breach of probation and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Lastly, a 30-year-old Ridgetown man wanted for breaching his release conditions was also arrested on Thursday. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
