Classic car stolen from shed outside of Bothwell

Chatham-Kent police are asking members of the public to keep their eyes open for a grey 1962 Pontiac Laurentian that was reported stolen early Wednesday morning.

Police said the car was on a black 20-foot trailer attached to a grey Chevrolet Silverado truck that was parked in a shed on Zone Centre Line.

The truck, trailer, and classic car were all stolen at the same time Wednesday morning, but officers later tracked down the pickup truck and the trailer in a cornfield on 7 Zone Road in Bothwell.

Police said the 1962 Laurentian was last seen with Ontario license plates 62JEZBEL.

Impaired driving charge laid after drive-thru crash

A 20-year-old Dresden man is facing an impaired driving charge after a crash at a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham Wednesday night.

Police said the crash took place in the drive-thru, adding that through their investigation, they believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

As a result, the man was arrested and taken to the OPP station for breath tests before he was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

He was later released with a future court date, but his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Aggravated assault in Merlin

A 41-year-old Blenheim man is charged with aggravated assault in connection with a disturbance in Merlin that sent a 25-year-old man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police said they were called in Wednesday night, adding that the two men know each other.

The man accused of aggravated assault was also charged with mischief for allegedly damaging the victim's phone.

He was later released pending a future court date.

Neighbour dispute in Tilbury escalates to assault

A 23-year-old Tilbury man is charged with assault after a dispute with his neighbour turned violent.

Police said the man was arrested after police were called in Wednesday night.

Minor injuries were reported and the accused was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Mismatched license plates raise a red flag

A 30-year-old Chatham man is facing a number of charges after police spotted him driving around in Chatham with two different license plates on his vehicle.

Police said when the officer pulled him over Wednesday afternoon, it was determined that the license plates were both reported stolen.

The accused was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime, driving while under suspension, using unauthorized license plates, and driving without insurance.

He was later released pending a future court date.

Man charged with breaching curfew

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 55-year-old Chatham man who was reportedly out past his curfew at least twice over the past month and a half.

Police said the man was released at the end of May with several conditions, including a daily curfew of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Officer said since then, they received information that the man was out after hours on at least two occasions.

He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions, then released again with a future court date.

Man arrested after damaging window

A 21-year-old man is charged with mischief after he allegedly damaged a window following a verbal argument at a residence in Chatham.

Police said they received the call Wednesday night, adding that the Chatham man who was arrested was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

More trouble for Chatham teen

A 16-year-old Chatham youth is spending some more time in police custody after allegedly breaching his release conditions.

Police said the youth was released from court back on March 31 with several conditions, including a daily curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Officers said despite that, they found the teen out and about shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday while they were responding to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Sandys Street in Chatham.

The teen was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
