Lady Luck knocks on Luck's door

Lady Luck was definitely on the side of a Dresden woman who won nearly $127,000 in a recent LOTTO MAX draw.

Kathy Luck won the cash on June 16.

The mother of four, grandmother of nine, and great-grandmother of three plans to renovate her farmhouse, pay some bills, and take a vacation.

The retired factory worker thought she only won $126 at first. The 63-year-old winner said her husband couldn't believe it when she told him.

"He thought I was full of it until I showed him the validation slip – his eyes went so big," Luck laughed. "I get excited when I win $20 so this is wonderful.”

The winning ticket was bought at Sonny's Variety of Lindsley Street in Dresden.

Luck picked up her cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. The OLG said the prize centre has resumed in-person prize claims for winning-ticket holders of $50,000 or more by-appointment only. The centre has been temporary closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Others wishing to claim their prize in-person at the OLG Prize Centre will have to wait for an announcement about open appointments.

The OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols, in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, to best protect customers and staff.

They include:

1. the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry

2. physical distancing measures

3. the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks
