Road rage over slow driver leads to alleged assault

A Chatham man is charged with assault after a road rage incident escalated to an assault in Chatham.

Police said it started Thursday night, when the accused was driving behind another vehicle on Gregory Drive in Chatham. The man allegedly started honking his horn at the driver in front of him when it was driving slowly.

After the slow-moving vehicle pulled into a driveway, the man in the vehicle behind it allegedly stopped, got out, and assaulted the other driver.

The accused then returned to his vehicle and took off.

Officers were able to identify a suspect, though, and arrested him.

A 24-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault and later released pending a future court date.

Man accused of stealing food and drinks from local hotel

A 25-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with robbery after he allegedly shoved a hotel employee and then took off with some food and drinks.

Police said the incident took place at around 6 a.m. Thursday in the lobby of a local hotel. Officers said the woman who was pushed was not physically hurt.

Police were able to find the suspect a short distance away and arrested him. He was charged and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigation into argument ends in assault charge

A 39-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged after an argument took a violent turn.

Police said they responded to the scene on Thursday after receiving a report about a man and a woman arguing. During their investigation, officers learned that the man had allegedly assaulted the woman.

He was arrested, charged accordingly, and later released pending a future court date.

Assault in Tilbury

A 21-year-old Belle River man is charged after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Tilbury.

Police said the man was arrested after police received a call about a domestic disturbance Thursday night.

He was later released pending a future court date.

Domestic assault in Wallaceburg

A 59-year-old man is facing a handful of domestic violence-related charges in connection with a call that police received in Wallaceburg.

Officers said they were called in to investigate a domestic disturbance at an apartment Thursday night and learned that a verbal argument between a man and his ex-wife had escalated into a physical altercation.

Police said they also learned it was not the first incident of domestic violence between the pair.

As a result, a 59-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with one count of forcible confinement, two counts of uttering threats, and two counts of assault.

Flatbed trailer stolen from RONA

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a silver flatbed trailer that was stolen from a locked compound at RONA on Colborne Street in Chatham.

Police said someone forced their way into the compound sometime between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday, causing about $150 in damage.

The trailer is a 2018 Stirling 60-084-TTL model -- it was not plated at the time of the theft and it has an estimated value of $1,800.
