Chatham-Kent police said the first crash was a two-vehicle crash on Talbot Trail between Four Rod Road and Bloomfield Road Monday afternoon.

The collision caused about $1,000 in damage and a 25-year-old Mersea Township man was charged with careless driving

The second case -- on Raleigh Street near Harvey Street in Chatham -- was also Monday afternoon and also involved two vehicles. The driver at fault was charged with failing to stop for a stop sign.

The third crash took place Monday night on Forest Street near Elizabeth Street in Chatham. The damage after that collision was estimated at $20,000 and a 29-year-old Chatham woman was charged with disobeying a stop sign.

Thief accused of returning to store for another round

A 25-year-old man who allegedly stole from the 7-Eleven on Grand Avenue in Chatham multiple times on Monday is facing charges.

Police said they were called in after a shoplifting complaint was filed Monday afternoon.

Officers were able to locate a suspect a short distance away from the store and took him into custody.

The accused was charged with two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property. He was later released with a future court date.

Man accused of grabbing ex's neck

A 46-year-old Chatham man who allegedly grabbed his ex-girlfriend around the neck during an argument has a date with a judge later this summer.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the man while they were investigating a "domestic disturbance" that took place outside of a residence in Chatham Monday morning.

When police arrested the man, they also allegedly found some suspected crystal methamphetamine on him.

The accused was charged with assault causing bodily harm and drug possession and was later released with a future court date of August 13, 2020.

Woman arrested for breaching release conditions

A 40-year-old woman of no fixed address who was released from police custody a few days ago is back in a holding cell.

Police said the woman was released on May 27 with several conditions including a daily curfew of 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. and a requirement to notify police of her address within 24 hours of her release.

Officers found her on the front lawn of a residence on Grande River Line at around 9:30 p.m. Monday night, though, and also learned that she had failed to notify police of where she was living.

As a result, the woman was arrested again and charged with two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions. She was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
