Airsoft gun shots lead to charges

A Chatham man is facing a weapons charge after allegedly shooting an airsoft gun towards his neighbour's house.

Police made the arrest after they were called to a neighbour dispute in Chatham at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

A 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was later released pending a future court date.

Man arrested after attempted video chat

A 24-year-old Chatham man is finding himself back in police custody after allegedly trying to speak with a woman he had been ordered to stop contacting.

Police said the man was released from custody in April with several conditions, including one that required him to stop communicating with a specific Chatham woman.

Investigators said that woman contacted police last night to report that the man had been trying to speak with her via Facebook Messenger -- and while she was giving that report to officers, the man allegedly tried to video chat with her.

Officers arrested the accused, charged him with failing to comply with his release conditions, and took him into custody pending a bail hearing.

Call about impaired driver leads to arrest

A 42-year-old Charing Cross man is facing an impaired driving charge after police pulled him over on Middle Line Sunday night.

Police said they tracked down the vehicle after getting a report about a suspected impaired driver in the area of Charing Cross.

The driver allegedly failed a roadside breath test and as a result, he was taken back to police headquarters for further breath tests.

The accused was then charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and later released with a future court date.

Suspended driver arrested in Chatham

A 40-year-old Blenheim man who wasn't supposed to be behind the wheel has been charged with two counts of driving while under suspension after a traffic stop in Chatham Sunday morning.

Police said an officer on general patrol spotted the man driving a car on Keil Drive near Richmond Street and pulled him over.

The accused was charged and his vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 45 days.

Three arrests on warrants

A 31-year-old Walpole Island woman who was wanted for failing to comply with her release conditions was arrested Sunday afternoon.

Police said she was later released with a future court date.

A 40-year-old Wheatley woman who was wanted for drug possession, failing to attend court, and for her fingerprints was arrested in Windsor Sunday night.

Officers said she was taken back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 46-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for breaching his probation and failing to attend court has been arrested after police spotted him riding his bike in the area of Park Avenue and Queen Street in Chatham early Monday morning.

The accused was arrested and was set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
