Meth, fentanyl turns up during traffic stop
A driver and a passenger have been arrested and charged after police allegedly found some illegal drugs during a traffic stop in Chatham early Friday morning.
Police said an officer on general patrol pulled over a suspicious vehicle on Harvey Street near Queen Street at around 3:30 a.m. Friday and learned that the people inside had some suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl in their possession.
Both of the accused were later released pending a future court date.

Argument between neighbours escalates to assault
A 46-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman are both facing assault-related charges after a dispute between some neighbours in Chatham took a violent turn.
Chatham-Kent police said they were called in Thursday afternoon and ended up arresting both of the accused.
No injuries were reported by police, but the man who was arrested was charged with one count of assault and two counts of assault with a weapon.
The woman who was arrested was charged with one count of assault. Both of the accused were later released with future court dates.

Police find pot within reach of driver
A 45-year-old Dresden woman is facing charges after police allegedly found some marijuana joints within her reach while she was behind the wheel.
Police said they initially pulled the vehicle over after seeing it on Duluth Street in Chatham with license plates that were not registered to it.
While the woman was being arrested for that offence, officers allegedly found some marijuana joints in a cigarette package that was accessible to her while she was driving.
As a result, the accused was charged with using unauthorized license plates and having cannabis readily available while in control of a motor vehicle.
