UPDATE: Erieau house fire not considered suspicious

A post-mortem has been completed in London after a 73-year-old woman was found deceased in a house that caught fire in Erieau earlier this week.

Chatham-Kent police said at this point, neither the fire nor the woman's death are considered suspicious.

The Ontario Fire Marshall's Office also attended the scene on Kerr Avenue to investigate the origin and cause of the fire.

Police seize meth, fentanyl, cocaine during Chatham drug bust

Four people are facing drug trafficking charges after police searched a residence on Gray Street in Chatham and found about $20,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Chatham-Kent police said that was Wednesday night, adding that they found and seized some methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine. Officers also reportedly seized a digital scale, some packaging materials, and a "large quantity of Canadian cash."

37-year-old Jacob Alliet of Gray Street in Chatham, 40-year-old Michael Moore of Grand Avenue East in Chatham, and 45-year-old Crystal Campbell-Dimytruk of Wellington Street East in Chatham were all arrested and charged with three counts each of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

A 36-year-old woman whose name was not disclosed by police was also arrested in connection with the case and charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. She was additionally charged with criminal harassment in connection with a separate incident.

All four of the accused were later released with future court dates. At this point, none of the allegations have been proven in court.

Trip to the hospital turns up fentanyl hidden in rectum

A 34-year-old Windsor man who wasn't supposed to leave the house except for medical appointments is facing charges after an unplanned trip to the hospital allegedly showed he had tucked away some illegal drugs.

Police said they arrested the man Wednesday morning after getting a call about a suspicious vehicle on Cemetery Road in Wheatley.

Officers said when they found the vehicle, they learned that the man was currently on house arrest and had been ordered not to leave his home except for medical appointments.

While the man was in custody at police headquarters, police reportedly became concerned for his well-being, so he was taken to the hospital in Chatham where "it was learned that he had concealed suspected fentanyl in his rectum."

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and drug possession. He was also set to be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Pain Court community paying for tips after school bell suspected stolen

A $500 reward is being offered to anyone who can help track down the S.S. #4 Dover School Bell that used to sit in front of École secondaire de Pain Court.

A post on the Village of Pain Court's website says it's believed it was stolen sometime between March 13 and April 22. The post, dated May 27, said the camera footage was overwritten prior to discovering its disappearance and the camera had been turned toward the sky.

The bell was donated to the school by the Delrue family and placed near the front doors in the garden. You can find a picture of the bell below.
