Stunt driving, speeding charges laid

Chatham-Kent police pulled over a pair of speeders on Charing Cross Road Monday night -- and one of them was pulled off the road.

Police said an officer on general patrol stopped the vehicles just before 8 p.m. Monday after seeing them travelling at a high rate of speed.

The officer allegedly recorded one of the drivers -- a 25-year-old Raleigh Township man -- going 147 kilometres per hour in a posted 90 km/h zone, so he was charged with stunt driving and his license and his vehicle were both taken away for seven days.

The second driver -- a 24-year-old Chatham man -- was reportedly going 119 km/h in a 90 km/h zone, so he was charged with speeding.
