Police investigating mailbox break-in

Chatham-Kent police are investigating an early morning incident where someone broke into a mailbox at a building on King Street in downtown Chatham.

Surveillance video sent to Blackburn News shows a suspect with dark coloured clothing -- hat, tank top, pants, and shoes -- walking up to the mailbox just after 4 a.m. Monday.

The suspect then attempts to open the mailbox before walking back to his vehicle to retrieve what appears to be a tool that he then uses to break open the box during a second attempt.

It's not clear if anything was taken.

Anyone with information should contact officer Mark Charron at mcharron@chatham-kent.ca or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
