Ride Don't Hide going virtual

COVID-19 concerns have forced another local fundraiser to go online.

Ride Don't Hide, a cycling event to raise awareness and money for the Canadian Mental Health Association of Lambton-Kent, is going virtual.

The event is normally one day at Rondeau Provincial Park, but this year, it's being expanded to the entire month of June.

"We're just asking you to create your own goals of taking care of your physical health and mental health for the month," said Mental Health Promotion Specialist Megan Walker. "Track it on your personal page and challenge other family and friends to do the same to still create an online community talking about our mental health."

Walker added that your goal for the month doesn't have to be related to physical activity.

"Things like painting, or journaling, or reading a book. Anything that really contributes to our overall health and wellness," said Walker. "You can tailor your goals and go with that."

Click here to find a list of ideas and suggestions for goals. All the money raised in Chatham-Kent from Ride Don't Hide stays within the community.

"It helps bring proceeds back to our preventative education program," said Walker. "The goal of that program is really getting out into the community, again building that awareness and making sure that people know what services and resources are still available locally."

You can register for the seventh annual ride for free or by donation online.
