Wind companies donate $20K to Outreach for Hunger

The stock room at Chatham Outreach for Hunger is looking a lot better now following a massive food drive and other monetary donations.

In an effort to help those in need during the COVID-19 crisis, residents and business owners partnered with the United Way of Chatham-Kent to hold the May 16th Miracle food drive. Inspired by this initiative, the Erieau and East Lake St. Clair Wind Farms recently donated $20,000 -- $10,000 each -- to Chatham Outreach For Hunger.

“The way that the Chatham-Kent community rallied around this May 16 Miracle food drive truly was inspiring to our local CK team at ENGIE. This donation will help fill the gaps for much-needed items at the Chatham Outreach for Hunger,” said Jason Stoner, on behalf of ENGIE Canada, Erieau and East Lake St. Clair Wind Farms.

Brenda LeClair, executive director of Chatham Outreach for Hunger, said the donations will help those in Chatham-Kent who are struggling on a daily basis, especially during the pandemic.

“Together we are all making a difference, thank you to all who made this possible,” said LeClair in a statement.

Exact totals for how much was collected during the May 16th Miracle have not been released but organizer Moréna McDonald had previously told Blackburn News that the event exceeded expectations.
