Chatham man busted for drug trafficking

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 39-year-old Chatham man after officers allegedly found him carrying some dime bags and five different varieties of illegal drugs.

Police said the man had some fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA-Ecstasy, and oxycodone on him when they searched him. The drugs have an estimated combined street value of $3,000.

Officers said they also seized an air-powered revolver, $896 in cash, a digital scale, some dime bags, and a gold watch.

The accused -- who was under a probation order at the time of his arrest -- was charged with eight offences in connection with the bust including five counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He was taken into custody and set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

Police stop speeders on the long weekend

Chatham-Kent police said they stopped and charged 34 drivers who were speeding on Saturday.

Officers were targeting bad driving habits across the municipality at the time as part of Canada Road Safety Week.

Wanted man arrested

The law has come calling for a 20-year-old Wallaceburg man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release order.

Officers said they arrested him on Monday and later released him with conditions and a future court date.
