Drugs seized during traffic stop

Two people were arrested after a traffic stop in Chatham turned up suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and crack cocaine.

Police said an officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Patteson Avenue on Sunday afternoon.

The 53-year-old man behind the wheel was reportedly driving with a suspended licence. During a search, police found suspected fentanyl.

Police said the passenger, a 38-year-old Chatham woman, was allegedly in possession of suspected fentanyl, a combination of suspected crack cocaine and fentanyl, along with three loaded syringes containing suspected methamphetamine, and a crack pipe. Police said she was also wanted for drug possession and failing to attend court.

The 38-year-old was charged with four counts of being in drug possession and held in custody pending a bail hearing. The 53-year-old man was released with a future court date scheduled for August 4.

Houseguest allegedly steals homeowner's vehicle

Officers are trying to track down a white 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe, reported stolen from a residence in Wallaceburg.

Police said the homeowner of a residence on University Avenue had their keys swiped by a houseguest on Sunday morning. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates BRNH 193.

Dresden man accused of assault

A 44-year-old Dresden man is charged with assault after police were called about a disturbance on Sunday night.

Officers were called to a residence around 5:30 p.m. Police said the incident involved two men who know each other.

The 44-year-old now has a future court date set for July 22.

Pop-up trailer reported stolen in Wallaceburg

A 1989 white pop-up trailer has been reported stolen in Wallaceburg.

Police said it was taken from a property on Water Street sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The trailer was last seen with Ontario license plate H5674W.

Tilbury man caught out past curfew

A 57-year-old man from Tilbury is in more trouble with the law after allegedly breaking his curfew conditions.

Police said the man was found at a motel on Grand Avenue East in Chatham around 2 a.m. on Monday. However, four separate release documents showed that he is supposed to stay at his own residence between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

He's now charged with four counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He has a future court date set for July 28.
