Police have the last word in family argument

A broken window and a threat over Facebook have landed a 20-year-old man back in the custody of Chatham-Kent police.

Officers said the man was released last weekend with several conditions, one of which was that he was not to communicate with a specific family member in Chatham.

Stolen trailer recovered after police chase

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down some leads on a case involving a stolen black utility trailer.

Police said an officer on general patrol first spotted the trailer shortly after 8:30 p.m. Thursday as it was being pulled by a grey Dodge pickup truck that was going from Kingsway Drive onto Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Investigators said the trailer wasn't properly attached at the time and a check of the trailer's licence plate showed that it was stolen from Kitchener last week.

When the officer tried to pull the vehicle over, though, the driver kept on going -- heading east on Longwoods Road.

Police tried to stop the truck around Caledonia Road, but the driver still kept going. Officers said they eventually had to call off the chase for public safety reasons.

The trailer turned up in a ditch along Longwoods Road, but police are still looking for tips that could help them identify the truck and the driver.
